and if you have to ask
there are some things that simply are not taught
cannot be found through reading many tomes
experience should tell but it does not
and if you have to ask you do not know
like when to give a hand to those in need
or open up your heart and share your home
or how to deal with struggles selflessly
but if you have to ask you do not know
for this is not a lesson but a life
like when to hold your tongue against your foe
or when to step down while another shines
but if you have to ask you do not know
perhaps you feel that this does not apply
and if you have to ask, i’ll simply sigh
